Psalms - Wisdom for Life

DAY 12 OF 15

The Ark of God was a large, beautiful box which was covered in gold. The Ark and what was inside, the two pieces of stone with the Ten Commandments on them, Aaron’s staff, and some pieces of manna, were symbols of God’s leading and His protection.

Before the time of King Saul and King David, the Israelites were facing a battle against the Philistines. They said, “Let’s carry the Ark with us into the battle for good luck.” But things didn’t go to plan. The Philistines won the battle and captured the Ark!

The Ark of God was so powerful that the statues the Philistines worshipped fell over in its presence. The Ark of God wasn’t in its rightful place, and the power of God’s presence wreaked havoc for the Philistines. They said, “The Ark of God must not stay here! How can we send it back to the place it belongs?”

After seven months, the Philistines came up with a plan to return the Ark of God to Israel. When it arrived, the people rejoiced, giving sacrifices to God and praising Him. When God does great things, we should give glory to Him. What can you praise God for today? Take a moment to give Him praise!

About this Plan

Psalms - Wisdom for Life

We can find wisdom for life in the pages of the Bible and one of the most well-known wisdom books, Psalms. Through the life of David, who wrote many of the Psalms, discover that this book is more than just a collection of poems. It shows us how to praise God with a thankful heart, to trust Him in troubled times, and that we have victory in Jesus' name.
