Eternal Work in the Remote Workplace

DAY 4 OF 4

Day 4 – Working to the Glory of God

The whole New Testament confirms the dignity of work; we were made to work even before the Fall. Even when it comes as a shock to us, God made work part of the paradise of Eden. So we undoubtedly need to see work as a vehicle in which we can pursue and exalt the glory of God. One of the ways we can do this is by praying earnestly for our coworkers, for opportunities to share the Gospel with them and for the confidence to do so. Yes, this may look different and be more challenging in the remote workplace, but we are not without good biblical examples. Arguably two of the apostles, Paul and John, worked remotely. They longed to be face-to-face, but ultimately instructed others in the Lord through letter writing. And who else is in our sphere of influence because of the blessing of working from home? Perhaps there is a neighbor who walks the dog at the same time as you or another parent who takes their lunch break with their children–are these people you can reach? We were created for God’s glory, and our mission, regardless of the nature or physical location of our work, is to go and make disciples. Evangelism may look different in the remote workplace, but the God who set this call on our lives remains the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.

Application: Think about a colleague, neighbor, delivery driver, or anyone else you connect with by virtue of working from home. Pray for them today by name.

Day 3

About this Plan

Eternal Work in the Remote Workplace

How can we work to glorify God in the remote workplace? How can we be salt and light if we don't leave the house? How can we win our coworkers to the Lord if we are never face-to-face? Be encouraged in the next four days that your Gospel-centered mission remains the same even if your physical presence changes.
