Week 24: We’ll start this week providing background for the New Testament, beginning in Babylon and moving into Rome. We’ll look at the prayers of Zechariah and Mary, celebrating that God will revisit His people. We will use these two texts to look at the major theme of God’s ultimate control, despite surface circumstances. This theme is demonstrated in the story of Daniel, a Jewish exile who rises to counsel the king. In his dreams, we see history through the lens of the coming kingdom of God.
