Bible Survey: Part OneSample
In chapters 6 to 12, we are told about some more rebellion, oppression and deliverance. Here we have Samson. There is a common theme in the Bible of God allowing a couple who can’t have children to have a child and for that child to fulfill a higher purpose. We saw it earlier in Genesis when Abraham and Sarah had Isaac. Back in Numbers 6 we read about Nazirites and now we meet one in Samson.
It must have been hard for Samson’s parents to wait all those years for a child. It must also have been rewarding to have such a clear sign that God had a plan. They certainly seemed eager to be just the right kinds of parents. Waiting is hard, but God always has a plan!
