Daily Bible Reading—February 2024, God’s Guiding Word: LoveSample
February 10
Introduction
John 5:19–47: Today’s reading continues with Jesus’s response to the religious leaders who challenge his authority. He speaks of his relationship with God the Father and says that those who believe in him will have eternal life. He refers to the witness of John the Baptist and admonishes the religious leaders for having no love for God in their hearts. He says that the Scriptures speak of him and point to him as the source of eternal life.
Today’s Key Verse: John 5:24a
[Jesus said:] “I am telling you the truth: those who hear my words and believe in him who sent me have eternal life.”
Reflect
How many times does the word “truth” appear in today’s reading? When Jesus speaks, what is the impact of that word? According to today’s reading, what authority has been given to Jesus? How does Jesus describe his relationship to God the Father? According to verses 31–37, who and what has testified on Jesus’s behalf? What impact do Jesus’s words have for living life today?
Pray
Lord Jesus, you are the source of eternal life and your word is truth. Imprint your message on my heart and empower me to be a bold witness to the truth that you proclaim. May my words and actions this day bear witness to your love. In your holy name, I pray. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
John 6:1–24: Jesus feeds 5,000 people and walks on water.
