Its Time to Smile AgainSample
Maybe you should get off here…
"Did you always know you wanted to be a singer?"
The fact is, my first desire was always to help people. When I was 11, I took care of an elderly man in the neighborhood every day, brought him food, cleaned his apartment, etc.
Then I wanted to train as a nurse for the elderly, which I was advised against because of my constant tendonitis. So I was just happy to sing there as often as I could. That was my opportunity at that moment to help people.
I also toured Europe with a gospel choir for many years from the age of 12. That cost a lot of money, so I worked all year long to be able to be there. Of course, I wanted to sing, but my motivation was: "Here I can tell people about Jesus," another way to help people.
Years later, when I suddenly shot through the media as "the singing flight attendant," I had a manager and was offered a record contract. It all sounded wonderful, but it didn't feel that way. The joy was lost despite the success, the recognition, and the whole hype around who I was.
I said no. No to the manager. No to the next tour. No to success. No to the record deal.
To the outside world, it looked like I had put the brakes on my career. But deep down, I knew I had to get out of that path so joy could get back in!
These days you “just do it." Do whatever needs to be done. But I would warn against automatically doing whatever comes next.
Don't just default to something that isn’t what God wants for you. Do what God wants you to do because it gives you joy as you give joy to others.
“Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him and he will do this…” (Psalm 37:3-5 NIV)
What used to drive you? Are you still on the right path, or should you also get off so joy can get back on?"
You are a miracle!
