Judas' Apostasy in Light of God's Faithfulness

DAY 9 OF 10

How to avoid being a Judas, and instead have a beautiful relationship with Jesus Christ

Keep your eyes on Jesus: Hebrews 12:1-3: “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

With the example of Jesus, and the encouragement from those who have gone on before us – we can succeed.

Read God’s Word daily: Hebrews 4:12: “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” And 2 Timothy 3:16-17: “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

Daily spending time with God in His Word while being inspired by the Holy Spirit is a beautiful way to nurture our relationship with Jesus.

Continually stay in communication with God – listening for His still small voice into your heart: 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

God loves to speak to us, but we must always be in listening mode.

Stay frequently in fellowship with others who passionately love Jesus Christ. Hebrews 10:24-25: “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

The Body of Christ meeting together is a sure way to be encouraged, to learn from each other, and to share in each other’s challenges.

Remember that God is helping us, we are not on our own: Philippians 1:6:”being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus, and 2:13: “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”

Romans 8:1 reminds us that God is on our side, and that we are not under any condemnation when we are living in Him.

Reflection: No one wants us to gain eternal life more than God Himself, and He has provided so much help to make sure we end up with Him forever. One of those witnesses to His greatness, is the wonderful creation with which we are surrounded.
