He grants sleep to those He loves. PSALM 127: 2 NIV

We all love a good night's sleep. We can go to bed tired and worn and then wake up in the morning re-energized. It's easy to lay down our heads and become consumed with our jobs, families, and concerns about security. "I'm so busy" is a mantra in our world today. Psalm 127:2 reads that God "grants sleep to those He loves." Picture this: all the plants outside your door tonight still grow even during the nighttime hours. And the truth is - so are we. Just because we are sleeping doesn't mean God isn't working in and through us to grow and prepare us for the day ahead. Who knows? We may wake up feeling completely secure in our jobs, at peace with our family situations, and ease with our concerns. We can rest peacefully while the Lord keeps providing for us and building his kingdom.

God, help me to believe that You are working things out for my good, whether I am awake or sleeping. It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that nothing will be accomplished tonight as I rest my body, but the truth is that You are always working, and tomorrow is a different day. I pray for Your peace tonight when I lay my head on my pillow. And I pray for You to give me Your eyes in the morning so I can wake up with a new, refreshed perspective on life. Amen.
