Wired to Fly

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10 (NLT)

In 2022, a female European Honey Buzzard was fitted with a satellite tracking system in Finland. She spent her Southern Hemisphere summer around Reitz, South Africa. On April 20, she left to fly north, arriving back in Finland on June 2. She took a straight line north over water and the Sudan, turning right at the source of the Nile and following it downriver.

During those 42 days, Mrs. Buzzard covered 6,250 miles, averaging about 148 miles per day! No one had to teach her to do that; it was built into her.

In the same way, those birds are wired by their Creator to migrate - He has hardwired you to make a difference. There are things built into you that no one has to teach you; it’s part of your nature.

Just think of it – your role in this cosmic drama is to use your built-in talents and abilities that God has given you to help the people around you. You’re not responsible for moving the earth along; you merely exist on it to make a difference in it.

Using our God-given gifts to help change the world will be invigorating, life-giving, and natural. It will be beautiful! You are God’s masterpiece, the work of His hands to do the good deeds He planned for you to do long ago.

There is something you can do for God’s glory better than anyone else! What is that thing? How can you live today like that?

Make a Difference:

Take stock of the talents and abilities God has given you. What is He asking you to do with those abilities? How can you positively impact the people around you with the gospel using the innate tools He’s given you?

Focus on the obedience of Isaiah and Hosea to do what God has asked them to do. They went with their skills and abilities to do all God asked.
