Creating a Culture of Victory
- Pastor Tyler Villines
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 (NKJV)
I remember playing high school football, and we were preparing for the biggest game of the year. The team we were facing was going on their 3rd year in a row of undefeated seasons, and we were their next opponent. We were watching the game film one day, and our team was physically shaken with fear, but one man in the room was unshaken and unstirred: our coach. Once we finished, he stood before us and said, “Looking forward to ending their streak in our house. Let’s get to work.” That boldness and confidence were contagious and gave us the fire we needed to walk in the victory that next week.
Do you know your confidence makes a difference to those who look up to you? Whether you are a leader in your workplace, school, team, or household, how you face trial will affect those about to endure it under or beside you. How you respond will set the tone. There was a King named Asa who walked in this kind of boldness.
In 2 Chronicles 14:8-13, King Asa faced an army described as “thousands upon thousands” of warriors and hundreds of chariots. Although his army was outnumbered, he prayed, “… in Your name, we have come against this vast army. Lord, You are our God; do not let mere mortals prevail against You.” Asa remembered who was fighting on his behalf. I do not know what you may face today, but I know who is fighting for you. That the King of Kings is leading the charge in your life. Romans 8:31 says, “If God is for us, who can be against us.” When you remember and walk in this, those with you will be reminded, and you, just like King Asa, will step in victory in Jesus' name.
Make a Difference:
What areas do you feel like the culture around you or under you is stuck?
How can you change your day-to-day mentality to help shift the culture from stagnancy to striving?
As You Read:
Think about what kind of culture Solomon has created for the nation of Israel. What kind of legacy is he leaving for future kings? King Asa is a bright spot that you’ll see next week. This week, focus on what impact your decisions make on those around you.
