Chapters 7 through 39 contain promises of Jesus coming to the earth as a baby, but they also speak of God’s judgment of those who reject God. Today’s chapter begins a section of Isaiah that argues for the greatness of God. It tells of God’s deliverance in Judah and his ability to carry out anything he promises. If God can create everything, why wouldn’t we rely on him? The last verse of the chapter is a favorite of many and tells of how relying on God is better than relying on ourselves.
