Spiritual Leadership for Parents Of: Teenagers

DAY 2 OF 5

Voices

In the journey of life, teenagers stand at crucial crossroads. They grapple with identity, choices, and the desire to find their place in this world. As parents, it is our responsibility to help them navigate this terrain, providing them with VOICES that will encourage, challenge, and guide them toward Jesus.

Encouragement is the foundation upon which a teenager's self-esteem and faith are built. In a world that often feels cold and unforgiving, our support and affirmation can provide them with the warmth they need. By speaking words of love, hope, and assurance, we create a safe space for them to explore their beliefs and grow in their relationship with Christ. Encouragement ignites the spark of faith and lets it burn brightly.

Challenging teenagers is another essential aspect of their spiritual development. It is through challenges that growth occurs. We can’t shy away from asking tough questions, engaging in meaningful conversations, and encouraging critical thinking. In doing so, we help teenagers build a solid foundation of faith that can withstand doubt and skepticism. By presenting them with thought-provoking ideas and allowing them to explore their beliefs, we empower them to embrace Jesus with conviction.

Leading teenagers to Jesus is the ultimate goal. Our actions and words should mirror the teachings of Christ. As they observe us living out our faith, they will be drawn to the authenticity of our relationship with Him. Moreover, we must actively involve them in the journey of faith. Encourage them to participate in church activities, join youth groups, and explore the scriptures. This will enable them to experience Jesus for themselves, rather than relying solely on the faith of others.

In the wild teenage years, having a support system that encourages, challenges, and leads them to Jesus can be a lifeline. This support system extends beyond parents. It includes mentors, teachers, coaches, and friends who share the same faith. Help your teenager seek out positive influences that align with their beliefs and values. These individuals will help reinforce the lessons learned at home and provide different perspectives on their faith journey.

The road to adulthood is often filled with distractions, temptations, and challenges. As parents and mentors, our role in nurturing the faith of teenagers is vital. By providing them with a strong support system, we equip them to face the world with confidence, knowing that they are loved, that their faith can withstand scrutiny, and that Jesus is the true and unwavering source of hope.
