DAY 6 - GIVE IT TO JESUS

When it comes to the pains of life, the stresses, and the anxieties, often times we can’t wait to go and give those things to the Lord. But, what about our hopes and dreams? I recall a season in which I was holding onto a dream a bit too tightly. I had planned what my life should look like and how this particular dream was going to come to perfect fruition…until it didn’t. I felt that this dream was given to me by the Lord, and I wasn’t going to let this go. I pleaded with the Lord, I strived to make this dream a reality, but the more tightly I gripped, the more burdened I became. How could God not make this dream come true?

After driving home from yet another passionless day at my former (non-dream) job, I just sat in my car…weary. It was in that moment that I heard the Lord telling me to surrender. My first thought was, “I’m waiting, working a job I can’t stand…I don’t know how much more surrendered I can be?” But then, my eyes filled with tears because I realized what He was meaning. Surrender it all: my dream, my heart, my plans. Through the tears, I told God right then that He would be my first priority.I would give Him all my worries and anxieties, but with that, I’d also give Him my dreams and expectations because His plans were absolutely more life-giving than my own. From that day on, the weight of that burden lifted and my peace returned. God can and will do so much more with our cares, our hopes, and our deepest desires if only we just give them all to Him.
