A Glimpse of Infinity (Deep Space Edition) - 7 Days of Photography & Prayers

DAY 1 OF 7

Introduction to This Series

By faith, we understand that the universe was created by the word of God so that what is seen was not made out of visible things (Hebrews 11:3).

Over the last century, we’ve been able to get a glimpse into deep space to see more of God’s grand design, and wow, is it ever spectacular! The more in-depth we see into various galaxies, the better one can appreciate Job when he says, “He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.” (Job 26:7).

As a photographer, I find it absolutely amazing that through telescopes, equilateral mounts, and advanced cameras, we can now capture some of God’s artwork in deep space. His glory is everywhere! For the next seven days, I hope you’ll come to appreciate God in a deeper, more meaningful way. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name (Psalm 147:4)!

The Beginning of His Work

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Sovereign God, Your ways are perfect; You give wisdom to those who seek it. Thank You for providing us with Your Word and Spirit; they are a lifeline for us, Your servants.

We are living in a time where we desperately need wisdom. Many people are continually talking, but very few are listening. The wise of heart are receiving Your commandments, but babbling fools are coming to ruin (Proverbs 10:8). You have declared that when there are many words, wrongdoing is unavoidable. Please help us to be the wise person who restrains our lips (Proverbs 10:19). Give us a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of You, having the eyes of our hearts enlightened, that we may know the hope to which You have called us (Ephesians 1:18).

ONE QUESTION

In what area of my life do I need to do less talking and more listening?

ABOUT THIS PHOTO

  • Deep Sky Object vdB 15 is a reflection nebula located in the Constellation Camelopardalis.

To capture this image, I used the FSQ-106 530mm f/5 telescope, the Paramount MyT (to follow the earth's rotation), and the QSI 683wsg-8 (8300) camera. To render all the data, I photo-stacked 74 x 600 second exposures together for a total of 12.33 hours of data.
