Remember Jesus Christ [Knowing Jesus Series] Sample
The renowned preacher C.H. Spurgeon once said: "If the Lord's bearing our sin for us is not the Gospel, I have no Gospel to preach."
Understanding and teaching who Jesus Christ is should be central to preaching the Gospel. But it should also be understood as vital for the believer's perseverance in faith and spiritual growth. The apostle John said, "Whoever abides in the teaching (of Christ) has both the Father and the Son" (2 John 1:9). Then, the appeal is not to shift from this teaching but to remain grounded in it.
The apostle John also said that the very purpose of Scripture is that we may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing in His name, we may have life (John 20:31). John leads us toward a model of faith that is grounded in knowing and understanding who Jesus is, not just in knowing what Jesus did. The gospels invite us to discover the identity of Jesus Christ, the central model for the Christian life.
In this sense, the Word of God testifies to the union of divinity and humanity through the person of Jesus Christ. This has tremendous implications for our relationship with Him. Jesus is God. He became a man and came to our rescue. He understands our condition and has compassion for us (John 1:14). Jesus is thus our strength and power due to His divinity and lordship (Ephesians 6:10), for as He suffered as a man on earth, He is also able to help us (Hebrews 2:18).

Pray
My beloved Jesus, thank you for the opportunity to know you personally, and not just learn or know more about your work. You are incomparable, and yet you grant me the grace to approach you with confidence. Amen.
About this Plan
"Can a Christian forget about Jesus?" The apostle Paul encouraged young Timothy never to stop remembering Jesus Christ. Since we live in a world of distractions, we risk losing our focus on Jesus. Through this devotional plan, I invite you to rediscover the importance of knowing Jesus Christ as he is presented in Scripture. The goal is to keep our lives centered on Him until the end.
