YOUR PERSONAL KINGDOM versus THE KINGDOM OF GOD

There’s a tension in the atmosphere. The tension is between your personal kingdom and the Kingdom of God. What is most important to you? If we ask some basic questions, we soon find out which kingdom is our priority. Our time and our money are two important indicators. Our priorities are revealed by where we invest our time and money. What have you done with yours? Jesus taught us to seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and that all things would be given to us as well. (Matthew 6:33-34).

What is the context of that passage? The context is everyday life - worrying about what to eat and what to wear. The bottom line is this - if the Creator provides for all creation, why wouldn't He provide for us? In other words, if we pursue the interests of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, He will take care of our financial life. There is a correlation between the spiritual world and the material world, but for God’s children, the spiritual is always the most important.

So how do we seek first the Kingdom? Invest your time and resources intentionally in the Kingdom. That means participating in the expansion of the Kingdom by putting our treasure in eternal things. Author Rick Warren wrote that one day we will give an account of our lives to God, and He will ask two questions – “What did you do with my Son Jesus?” and “What did you do with what I gave you?” May we live so that what we hear from God is - "Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!" (Matthew 25:21).

Remember: We must prioritize the Kingdom of God. If we do, God has promised to work in our personal financial world.
