Give Thanks for Value Restored
Some of the most exciting moments in shows like The Antiques Roadshow happen when someone brings an old family relic to be appraised and learns that the “worthless” old knickknack that was living in the attic is actually priceless. Maybe that’s how you came to the Lord—a little worn and unsure of your value—but when you encountered Jesus, you found out your value was greater than you could have imagined. You were bought with the blood of the Son of God, and that makes you priceless!
Even when you were lost, there was never a time when you were not valuable to God. God has always treasured you. God sent His Son, Jesus, because you are valuable. Do you need to be reminded of that today? Often, we think poorly of ourselves, either because of our past mistakes or our current shortcomings. It can be challenging to see past these things, but considering the value God has placed on us has the potential to totally revolutionize the way we see ourselves. Accept your true value, highly esteem your own life, and leave that sense of inferiority behind.
Sometimes we think poorly of ourselves and underestimate our value because we look to the world to measure our worth. The truth is material possessions do not establish your value. The opinions of others do not dictate your importance. Achievements add nothing to your true significance. Titles do not define your infinite importance. God Himself establishes your worth.
The truth of our value in Christ influences how we face each day and circumstance. When we know we are valued, we can value others and live with dignity and purpose. Now, that’s something to be thankful for! Let’s thank God today for the great love He’s shown us and the eternal value He alone can give us.
Thought of the Day: It can be easy to look down on myself and forget what I’m worth to God. Today, I will give thanks for the priceless sacrifice Christ made for me and know that I am eternally valued by my Heavenly Father.
