New Wineskins: Embracing God's Best for You in Your New YearSample
Day 2: Letting Go of the Old
Scripture: Philippians 3:13-14
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus
In our pursuit of God's best for the new year, it's imperative that we learn to let go of the old.
Drawing inspiration from the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:13-14, we find the timeless wisdom of pressing forward and leaving behind what's in the past.
It's a powerful message of embracing the future without the weight of yesterday's burdens.
So, ask yourself: What memories, regrets, or grudges from the past are you still carrying?
What might be preventing you from fully embracing the abundant life God has in store for you in the days to come?
Today, make a conscious effort to release these burdens and trust in God's promise of a fresh beginning.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, as I stand on the threshold of this new year, I come before You with a heart burdened by the weight of the past. Help me, Lord, to relinquish the hold that yesterday has on me. Grant me the courage to forget what lies behind and to step into the future with hope, purpose, and trust in Your perfect plans for me. In releasing the old, I open my heart to the new that You have in store. Amen.
