The Shalom Path

DAY 2 OF 6

2. Shalom is Safety and Soundness

Shalom means “safety” and “soundness.” David laments in Psalm 38:3, “…my bones have no soundness because of my sin.” His body, because of his spirit, was apparently becoming scarecrow-like, and David knows why. Job 5:24 translates shalom as “secure” when Eliphaz replies, “You will know that your tent is secure.” One can see the illustration given: Ropes are tight, stakes are driven deep, poles high and in place. Scripturally speaking, man lives in shalom, “secure” when he is safe and sound, when everything is in place.
