WordLive - Year OneSample
Prepare: How are you feeling today? Bring those feelings with you as you approach God with your hands open and your head up. You are coming to meet the true King of all the earth.
Join in!
Are you feeling brave? Let’s join in with this psalm! Start with a clap or just tap your hand to the rhythm of the words. Slow or fast, soft or loud. Next, you need to shout (if there’s nobody you will be disturbing!). Maybe use the words of verse 2 or a simple praise song you know.
By now you may be standing up, if you are able. Let your body move. Finish (for now) by repeating ‘Sing praises, sing praises’ (v 6) for as long as you want.
Our God
Who is our God? The Lord most high. What is he like? Awesome (v 2)! However we are feeling, whatever we are going through, God is the King of all the earth. That includes every detail of our lives, every person we care about, every situation we face.
God is bigger than all that; he subdues whole nations and peoples (v 3). And he is our God, the one who made us, who knows us and loves us (v 4).
Respond: Whether you are a quiet or a noisy person this psalm suggests a physical and musical response to God’s unique position as the King over the nations (v 8). Maybe today is a time to physically act out bringing to him all your cares and joys, laying them down at his feet. Be free to celebrate his kingship before him.
