He Cheated and He ReconcilesSample
If I still have breath in my lungs then His work is not over. Friend, sister, brother, daughter, son, if you have breath in your lungs, He is not done! Trust Him! Trust His plan for your life, trust that He is who He says He is and that He knew the beginning and ending of your book before you were born. He knew which page of the story you would flip to, and He gives you life abundantly even in your broken season! He loves you in your mess. You do not have to do anything to earn His love. His love is free, and ready to be received.
I was speaking to one of my friends recently who works for Kirk Franklin, and he mentioned a story Kirk told him during a hard season in his life about Michael Jackson and how when he filmed Billie Jean the producer changed the dance routine right before Michael walked in and told Michael to trust him.
Michael asked him, “What am I supposed to do, I do not know the moves?” The producer said, “I marked your footsteps with lights. So, every step is followed by a light that will tell you where to go next.” As you know, Billie Jean was one of Michael Jackson’s most notorious music videos and he had no idea where to even start to step in the beginning of production.
But, the producer and creator of this particular event lit up his next steps and Michael had to trust him to follow in accordance to the pattern that was laid out before him. When I heard this, I found the biblical principle in this story because of the faith that had to be portrayed BEFORE the next step. Often in our simple, physical, ignorant, human brains we think that we have to see the physical alignment BEFORE we step out on faith. We must remember that Satan corrupted what God created, so our natural inclination is to follow what we naturally feel is the next step, or to do what pleases our old nature. This is when we have to be the most mindful because if we step in accordance with our natural desires without seeking His face in our decision making processes then we could be fulfilling our self-gratification and not His gratification with our steps.
When I know I have a next step in my path I have to pray and ask for His direction and His guidance. If this is you within this season I encourage you to pray, “Lord, deny my self-gratification and my desires to make decisions like my old self. Lord, I am new in Christ Jesus therefore, help me deny my flesh and emotions so that I can hear and obey your spirit through this season of reconciliation."
