How to Start Talking to Your People About Jesus

DAY 1 OF 7

Why Is Sharing My Faith So Hard?

Why is sharing my faith so hard? Because I don’t want to offend. I don’t know what to say or how to say it. Those are a few of my reasons. What are yours?

But what if our faith in Jesus is what others are looking for?

I want to be your companion the next few days as you discover that you can introduce Jesus to others, not so their faith is complete but so they can begin making discoveries about Him and His love for them—just as you are still learning about Jesus. Sharing our faith will continue to be something we grow in, but it doesn’t have to be hard. Hard is when we expect to speak so perfectly that we immediately convert someone, and they proceed to live the rest of their days a saint and not a sinner.

I’ve prayed with a cashier at the grocery store about her sore wrist. I’ve told a shoplifter in the act that Jesus loves him. I’ve given my rideshare driver an invite card to my church. I missed an opportunity with my neighbor just a few days ago. I’ve been in so many conversations with my friend, Liv, that I wonder if she’ll ever want Jesus.

Let me ask you, Are you burdened for your nonbelieving friends? Have you ever wanted to share your Jesus story? (Come back for tomorrow’s devotional!)

You’re in the right place, and you’re going to learn a new way to share Jesus. If you want people to know Jesus, be open for them to know you. If we are to be effective disciples of Christ, we’ve got to learn to listen to our people, the ones who live, work, and breathe beside us.

Prayer: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, I love You and am so grateful I have a relationship with You. I want others (name them) to know You too. I give You my fears and reasons for not talking about You with others, and I pray You will give me the words to say and the ears to listen in conversations today.

About this Plan

How to Start Talking to Your People About Jesus

The language of faith is not the language of culture. We may use some of the same words, but they rarely mean the same thing. If we are to effectively share our faith, we have to translate Jesus so he can be understood. Change the way you think about sharing God's good news–and the way others hear it! Pastor and teacher Shauna Pilgreen is excited to show you how.
