Vision of God - Visio DeiSample
A vast aspect of the Lord’s vision includes cross-cultural ministry, calling us to fully encapsulate the principle of honor. Honor becomes a guiding light, illuminating our path and revealing the depth of God’s purpose. It becomes a reflection of our desire to glorify God in every moment. There is a deep connection between honor and missions, and the Lord is calling us to honor Him and honor His people above all else.
As believers, many of us agree that missions are a divine calling, transcending our own personal ambitions or aspirations. They are about bringing forth Christ's love to the nations, bridging cultural divides or divisions, and advancing the Kingdom of God. To navigate this effectively and according to the call of scripture, we must embark upon cross-cultural ministry with humility and cultural awareness, embracing a strong sense of accountability. Honor becomes the compass guiding our every interaction!
The apostle Paul, in Philippians 2:3, calls us to this standard, "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves." This verse encapsulates the essence of honor in missions. To honor God, we must intentionally prioritize others over ourselves. This means adopting a posture of service over entitlement, seeking to comprehend others rather than to be comprehended ourselves, and extending love instead of awaiting it. Through this, we exhibit the sacrificial nature of Christ's love for His people.
"Humility is the fear of the LORD; its wages are riches and honor and life" (Proverbs 22:4). In missions, and more generally, in every area of our lives, upholding integrity and pursuing wisdom are fundamental ways that we can honor God. Our decisions and actions should harmonize with our faith, demonstrating to others that we walk in reverence of the Lord. Through this posture, honor naturally takes root.
May we honor God by serving with humility, consistently choosing others above ourselves, upholding integrity, and continually seeking the Lord for deeper wisdom. Keep in mind that missions are not about us; they are a conduit for God's glory! May our mission endeavors stand as a testimony to His honor and the beauty of His magnificence in all that we undertake. Let it become our prayer that every aspect of our mission work is dedicated to the glory of God.
About this Plan
Visio Dei or “vision of God” speaks to the heart of God; a heart that is passionately expansive, stretching over cultures, religions, and people groups. When God’s vision becomes our vision, we grow compelled to love differently, serve selflessly, and live authentically as sons and daughters of the King. May Visio Dei become the cry of our hearts as we embrace the fullness of the Lord’s love for His people.
