Daily Bible Reading – October 2023, "God’s Saving Word: Justice and Peace"Sample
October 4
Introduction
Today's reading begins with a description of human wickedness and sin but is followed by words of praise for the goodness of God and God's constant love.
Scripture Reading
Psalm 36
Today's Key Verse: Psalm 36:7
How precious, O God, is your constant love! We find protection under the shadow of your wings.
Reflect
According to the opening verses (1‒4) of this psalm, sinners are those who show no respect for God. How are they described in these verses? Reread verses 5‒9 which are a celebration of God's love for the whole world. How is God's love described in these verses? What verses do you find particularly meaningful? In what ways will you show your love for God today?
Pray
Lord God, I thank and praise you for your constant love, your faithfulness, your righteousness, and your justice. You are the source of all life; help me to share the light of your love with everyone I encounter today. In your precious name, I pray. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
Psalm 37: A psalm describing the destiny of the wicked and of the good.
