Being Made Whole Through The GospelSample
The Cleansing Power of Confession
Reflect:
Have you ever heard the phrase "we are only as sick as our secrets?" There is a good amount of truth in this phrase. We are all sinners, but when we keep our sins hidden, it is a tool for the enemy to use to isolate us not only from our relationship with God, but our relationships with our sisters in Christ.
Accountability is important for several reasons. To have a close friend or mentor we can be accountable to, brings the comfort of confession and with confession comes healing.
The enemy can only use what is kept in the dark, but when brought into the light, our sins no longer have a stronghold on us.
We are called to love each other, and with that love comes truth, and with truth comes opportunity to show our brokenness. Showing our brokenness can be a vulnerable thing, but it is the obedient thing to do.
If you don't have a trusted friend and mentor you can confess to, and pray with, begin to ask God to send people into your path that you can be accountable to. There is beauty in brokenness, and remember, Christ sees you as nothing but beautiful and loved.
Pray:
God I thank you that you sent your son to die on the cross for our sins. Thank you for friendships and relationships where we can confess to each other and and that you hear our righteous prayers.
Your turn:
Do you have an accountability partner?
Do you have any hidden sins you need to confess?
