Tithing Today: 3 Unexpected Benefits of TithingSample
Day 3 - Positive Impact on Emotional and Spiritual Well-being
Most of us have heard that “God loves a cheerful giver”, but can the act of giving or tithing actually make us happier?
Well, a study published in the Journal of Social Psychology found that generosity is linked to happiness and contentment.
Proverbs 11:25 echos this truth, "A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed."
So tithing, as a form of intentional giving, has a positive effect on our sense of fulfillment and well-being.
And if that wasn’t enough, tithing encourages intentionality in our financial decisions and helps us live with purpose.
So tithing is really more than a financial transaction; it's actually an act of faith that fosters a generous spirit that can lead to spiritual well-being and growth.
In fact, the Barna group conducted a study that found that tithers are more spiritually engaged than non-tithers.
Obviously tithing is just one of many beneficial spiritual disciplines, but for those of us who choose to tithe, it is nice to see the positive byproducts of that commitment.
So today, regardless of where you are on your giving journey, prayerfully take some time to explore your current giving and what God might be inviting you to do next.
