Day 7: Water the Seed:
On day 7, we’re talking about watering the seed.
The watering process involves two steps, which we see clearly throughout scripture. Mark 11:24 gives us the first step. Here, Jesus tells us that when we pray for something, we should already believe we have received it! We have access to all of God's promises! Not some of them. All of them. But we have to do our part! We have to believe it.
The second part of the process is simple: we must also speak it. Joshua 1:8 instructs us to keep the "Book of Law" on our lips and to meditate on it day and night. And, depending on the translation that you use, doing this will cause us to be prosperous and successful!
We see both steps confirmed through the story in Ezekiel 37:1-14. God showed Ezekiel a vision of a valley of dry bones in this passage. The Lord asked, “Can these bones live?” Ezekiel responded, “Sovereign Lord, you alone know.” So, in verses four through six, the Lord commanded him with a difficult task.
As Ezekiel obeyed—first believing and then prophesying—the dry bones did exactly as God said. They rattled, joined, formed skin, and received breath, forming a great army. That’s the power of faith-filled words!
In what areas of your life do you need to believe again? To speak faith over? I can hear the Lord asking you, just as He asked Ezekiel, “Can these bones live? What do you believe?” For dead things to come to life in our situations, we must also embrace both parts of this process. First, we must believe what God says can and will happen. Then we must speak it into existence, nourishing it with the water of God’s Word.
In your dry bone moments, how will you respond? In the seasons that the heat threatens your harvest, how will you care for your seed? I pray you water it with faith, believing God’s promises to the point of action. When you grow weary, I hope you’ll worship Him in advance, thanking Him for the miracle He will perform.
Friend, your words, spoken in faith, have immeasurable power. So, like Ezekiel, prophesy over your life, situation, job, marriage, family, children, and dreams. Speak God’s Word, calling in favor, healing, provision, and opportunity. And when you grow tired, don’t give up. Put your hope in the Lord. He is faithful!
