DAY 8 OF 28

Have you ever played the "The Game of Life?" It's a board game where, by the end of the game, you've lived an entire life full of school, career changes, and plenty of unexpected moments. No matter how well you plan ahead, there's always something unexpected that completely changes how you play the game.

It's never a good feeling when the plans we make get off track. Today's reading reminds us how God is still with us even when our plans fall through. Whenever something unexpected happens, we can trust God to be with us and to provide for us because we're all God's children. Instead of trying to fully fix things ourselves or giving in to those feelings of wanting to give up, we can choose to look to God for help.

Asking God for help can be as simple as asking for peace whenever we feel insecure. We can ask God for hope as soon as we realize we're running out of resources. And we can always ask God for courage — especially when we're feeling overwhelmed by feelings of doubt. We can't control the ways our lives pan out, and there's always going to be something unexpected waiting for us, but we can turn to God and believe God will provide for us and take care of us. We're a part of God's family, so we can look to God for help and look to bring support to others. God makes safe spaces for us, and when there isn't enough, God provides.

About this Plan

Enough

For the next four weeks, we’ll look at how the earliest followers of Jesus created a new kind of community as God's family. Through their example, we’ll learn that there is enough when we share what we have — and if there isn’t enough, God provides. We'll also learn that our actions can speak when words aren’t enough and that God’s love is always enough.
