How to Win Friends & Influence People

DAY 4 OF 5

Day 4: The Value of Humility in Leadership

Scripture: Proverbs 11:2

Quote: "Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain - and most fools do." - Dale Carnegie

Today, let's reflect on the value of humility in leadership.

Proverbs 11:2 states, "When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom."

This wisdom from Scripture aligns with Dale Carnegie's insights on the importance of embracing humility and avoiding criticism.

The Bible is the source. Know it. Own it and connect your life and decision-making to it.

Let’s look at the story of King David in 2 Samuel 12:13 and Psalm 51.

When confronted by the prophet Nathan about his sins, David humbly acknowledged his wrongdoing and sought God's forgiveness.

Despite his powerful position as king, David demonstrated a willingness to learn from his mistakes and grow as a leader.

As a leader and influencer, you should strive to emulate David's example by practicing humility and accepting responsibility for your actions.

What a simple, yet profound statement.

Again, it’s not the easiest route, but it is the wisest one.

By acknowledging your faults and learning from them, you can develop wisdom, resilience, and a stronger connection with God and others.

As you get into your day, reflect on these questions:
In what areas of your life can you embrace humility and learn from your mistakes?
How can you foster a spirit of humility and openness to growth in your leadership and relationships?
What are you criticizing that you need to stop?

I’m praying with you and rooting for you.
God bless.
