Be Confident in God

DAY 11 OF 11

Look back and look forward

Remember the former things, those of long ago…” (Isaiah 46:9)

Hope in God; for I shall again praise him” (Psalm 42:11)

Everyone's life has beautiful and difficult moments, and this will continue to be so as long as we are here on earth. Sometimes we go through such a deep valley that we risk losing confidence in God. This becomes even worse when people around us mockingly ask, “Where is your God?” (Psalm 42:3 and 10) or even ask us: “Are you still holding on to your faith? Why don’t you just curse God and die!” (Job 2:9 in the ERV).

Psalm 42 gives us advice on how to trust God boldly even in such situations. First, by remembering all that the Lord God has already done for us. We also read this in Isaiah 46:9-10, “Remember the former things, those of long ago; I am God, and there is no other”.

Second, it can be encouraging to look forward. There are so many wonderful promises in the Bible, and because we know that God is trustworthy, we can be sure that these promises will come true. Our earthly life is only short compared to eternity. This is why Paul can confidently say, “I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us” (Romans 8:18).

Do you share that conviction? Does it help you to keep confident?

Thank you for completing this reading plan. We hope you were encouraged to follow Jesus every day! We invite you to learn more about Him in one of our e-courses , or to find your questions answered on our homepage www.biblword.net

Day 10

About this Plan

Be Confident in God

Confident and bold people can achieve much in life, or so we think. We're told, “Come on, you can do it!” The Bible tells us to be confident: not in ourselves, but in God! And that, truly is a far more solid foundation for a joyful life!
