I will have FREEDOM from fear. Say that out loud. I am sure we can all think of a time when we felt fear and a time when we felt fearless, right? And I think we can all agree feeling fearless is so much better.
Recently I received the chance to host for the first time on stage during my church's very first youth night! When I got ready to step onto the stage, immediate fear rushed over me. Suddenly every possible negative outcome came to mind. What if I forgot the script? Or stuttered? Or just froze on stage? I wasn't careful and I bought into a few of these lies. I started to let these negative thoughts spiral and suddenly I found myself doubting my whole identity. When it came to that point, I reminded myself of who I am in Jesus. As well as who I am NOT.
The Bible tells us that the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy our joy through any means possible, especially lies. Friend, do you know who you are? Do you know who you serve? Do you know who lives IN you? Here's what I'm getting at: Fear has no power over you because Jesus is with you. The one true living God dwells within you. You are called. You are chosen. And you have freedom over fear. A life worth living is one where God rules and fear is subject to that fact. Today, spend time reading God's living word, where God speaks the clearest. Pray and ask God to reveal what fears tend to get to you. After reading and praying, share what God revealed to you about fear with a friend using this text template:
Hey (insert name of friend), Today I was thinking about the fears I have let get to me. I would love for you to hold me accountable when these fears come up in the future. If you see me struggling with (specify fears here) in the future, would you remind me to pray?
