4 Things Christians Should Do With Money (That Don't Make Sense)

DAY 1 OF 4

Day 1—Giving by faith, not from leftovers

The world often encourages us to give from what is leftover, if at all. We are taught to take care of ourselves first, to ensure our own needs are met, and then consider giving.

The Bible, however, suggests a radically different approach: giving first and giving by faith.

Proverbs 3:9-10 paints a clear picture of this perspective: "Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine."

The act of giving first, of honoring God with our "first fruits," is a tangible demonstration of our faith and trust in God.

When we do, we're acknowledging that every blessing we have comes from Him and affirming that He is more than capable of providing for our needs. It's choosing to prioritize generosity, putting God's kingdom first (Matt 6:33), secure in His promise to take care of us.

Today, take a moment and evaluate our giving. Are we giving by faith or from leftovers?

Remember, it's not just about money but also our time, talents, and resources. As you meditate on these verses, ask God to reveal anything in your heart that needs to be uncovered.
