Purify Your Mind Series (Part 1) by Joe KirbySample
Jesus Has Washed Away Your Sins
One day a pastor and a young man were walking down a beach. The young man said to the pastor, “You see these scattered footsteps in the sand? That’s what I feel my life has been like. Prone to wander, I’ve never followed God as I should. Sometimes I doubt I’m even a Christian.” As the young man was speaking, a wave came in with a sudden whoosh and wiped away all of the footsteps in the sand. Then the pastor looked at the young man and said, “Yes, but never forget the blood of Jesus Christ washes away all of our sins.”
There are times when we lack assurance and our sin makes us feel unworthy to call ourselves Christian. But remember, we are saved by grace. There is no sin that is too vile, too unclean, too bad that the blood of Jesus cannot wash away. The blood that Jesus shed on Calvary scrubs away our sins and makes us whiter than snow. When it snows, the local rubbish heap at the waste collection center looks like Mount Everest. Snow can make all our filthy, rotting material look beautiful because snow covers it with a blanket of perfect spotlessness. In the same way, our sins have been covered by the blood of Jesus Christ. Have you come to Jesus and had your sins washed away? Have you asked Him to be your Lord and Savior? If the answer is no, come to Christ for forgiveness of sins today. If the answer is yes, remind yourself that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.
