The Unfair Advantage

DAY 4 OF 5

David showed up to fight Goliath in full faith. Goliath was a force to be reckoned with. The Israelites viewed him as unbeatable. But David didn’t cower. The Bible tells us that before walking onto the battlefield, he chose five stones to attack the giant with. Why five stones? Could it be because he didn’t think he could hit him on the first one? In grabbing five stones, he made the decision that if he missed, he would not quit and run away. He would keep throwing until the last stone was gone.

This is the attitude it takes to win. If I don’t bring the giant down with the first stone, I will keep going. Keep fighting. Failure is an event, not a person, so don’t ever call yourself one. If you have tried and it did not work, get back up. Falling down is an accident. Staying down is a choice.

Proverbs 24:16 says, “Though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again.” Don’t give up on whatever it is that you feel called to. Keep trying. If you can’t trust yourself to keep going, get around some people who will encourage you on: accountability partners, small groups, and counseling are all great sources. Pray for the right people to surround you in your battle as you keep showing up.

Stop making excuses and start making attempts.

Prayer

Father, I am sorry that I have let past defeats interfere with my pursuit of your purpose for me. Please give me strength to stand back up and work for your glory. Amen.
