The Point of No Return

DAY 3 OF 5

Focusing on Your Future

Have you gotten to a place where you knew your current season was ending and it was time to move on? If so, you’ve learned a valuable truth: When one phase of your spiritual walk is finished, it can never be extended or repeated. You must move forward into the next assignment God gives you!

If God has put a dream in your heart that has yet to be fulfilled, you don’t want to stay where you are now! If you did, you would never break into new territory and see that dream in your heart come to pass. You would never know what it’s like to throw your fears and apprehensions to the wind to fervently pursue God’s perfect plan for your life!

When you break free of your comfort zone in order to accept your new assignment, you may feel like you’re living on the edge. It might be difficult at first, but after you’ve lived out on the edge for a while and grown accustomed to the daily adventure of serving Jesus Christ, you’ll wonder how you were ever satisfied in life before stepping out in faith. Looking back, your former life will appear boring and uneventful compared to your new adventure!

Perhaps you received a clear word from the Lord calling you to begin a new assignment. But instead of obediently following His instructions, you’re waiting for the circumstances to be absolutely perfect before you step out and obey. In that case, I can tell you that your situation will never be perfect—perfect conditions don’t necessarily mean perfect timing!

Don’t be afraid to accept your God-given assignment. The task before you may appear large, overwhelming, or even outrageous to your natural mind — but you can rest assured that if God has called you to do something, He has equipped and anointed you to fulfill that assignment. When the waters part before you and you pass through your season unharmed, you will be left with a new-found confidence—an assurance that you’re right in the middle of God’s will for your life. And friend, there is simply no greater confidence than knowing you’re exactly where God wants you to be!

Study Questions:

  1. Can you identify the steps God is directing you to take to fulfill His calling? If so, what are they?
  2. Have you asked God to prepare you for the destiny He’s ordained for you? If you haven’t, now is a great time to do so!
  3. Take a moment to honestly assess your qualifications. Do you find you need to focus less on looking for opportunities and more on working on your growth to be in a position of readiness when your God-given opportunity comes along?
