Worshipping GodSample
Spirit-filled Prayer
World-renowned pastor, Arthur Blessitt, tells of a church that decided to meet on a Saturday afternoon to pray for revival. About forty men came, sat in a big circle, and started to pray.
But there was no sense of the presence of God.
At that moment Arthur happened to look out of the window, and he noticed a restaurant across the street. He felt an impulse to get up and go over there, so he did.
He stood inside the door and said, "Does anybody here want to get saved?"
A waitress said, "I do."
So he explained the gospel to her, and led her to the Lord.
Then he asked if any of the people from the church across the street had ever talked to her about Jesus Christ or invited her to come to church.
She said, "No, not a one."
Yet those same people were praying for revival.
Do not limit the Spirit by presuming that your familiar, comfortable pattern of worship is the pattern He wants. Those forty men had to be dislodged from their deadness. Worship and prayer under the impulse of the Spirit means following the Spirit.
