A HEART THAT BEATS TO HELP
Two simple elements that changes the very nature of food and darkness, that’s what we are called to be! In a world that is rotting with corruption, scandals and malice we are called to preserve and add God-flavors. We are called to be a light that shows people the true-way. We are not called to renounce our life or live a life of an ascetic monk but rather live in the world dissolved like salt and yet be distinct in flavor and taste. Salt is a simple substance, characteristic because of its grainy nature and yet is powerful enough to transform what it is mixed with.
At our workplace we are called to be the salt and the light, dissolved yet distinct, Jesus talks about salt and light at the Sermon on the Mount when he talks about relationships, relationship with God, people, world and self. Have you ever wondered what does it mean to be a salt and a light? Jesus talks about the distinct nature of his disciples – They are poor in spirit, meek, mourners, hungry and thirsty for righteousness, merciful, pure in heart, peacemakers, persecuted, abiders of God’s law, reconcilers, lust haters, walking the extra-mile, giving to the needy, praying, loving God over money, not worrisome, not judging others and who do His will. That’s a long list but when we reflect deeply with a renewed mind and practice these in our lives with the help of the Holy Spirit we become the salt and the light.
There is a very important aspect Jesus shows us – Others first and it is a deliberate choice, as we build relationships at our workplace and lead people we need to be the salt and light where people look up to us for help, clarity, direction and development, our salty and light-filled hearts should draw people to us, build trust in us knowing that our life speaks is synonymous with His message and as we invest our time with them, their nature will be dissolved with others, helping them taste and capture a unique, one-of-a-kind flavor.
As we use coaching a wonderful tool that’s built on trust and accountability principles, may we put others first and as we engage, may the flavor and distinctness pave way for people to experience and encounter the Truth that’s deeper and reflective, when our life is worthy of our call, people will trust us as the people trusted our master and our life light will shine before them and they will see our good deeds and intentions and glorify our Father in heaven.
Prayer : Father, help me be flavored and distinct that I may share your favor and the display of your glory with my team. Amen!
