Rediscover Leadership

DAY 1 OF 7

What a time to lead. Christians are deconstructing. Racism is horrific. “Evangelical” seems to be a bad word anymore. The housing crisis is impossible. Volunteers are unrecruitable.

It’s a great time to be a leader.

This may sound counterintuitive, but it’s true. When the bottom falls out of your outer world, you turn to your inner world because that’s all you have left. And it’s there you find God. (Guess what? He’s a great foundation.)

Throughout this Bible Plan, we’re going to look at the concept of leadership through the lens of the person of Jesus. After all, Jesus was the best leader the world has ever seen. We may not always picture Jesus in the same way as we picture traditional leaders (why is that?) but He set out the singe greatest example for how to lead and love well while He was on earth. We can all look to Him for leadership guidance.

Now, an important truth for us to remember is that the main thing God gets out of your life is the person you become.

Not the resume you have.

Not the ministry you build.

Not the things you accumulate.

Not the team you lead.

It’s the person you become that you take into eternity.

Do you like the person (and the leader) you’re becoming?

In part one of this series, Rediscover Leadership, we’ll talk about how Jesus called us to follow––not to lead. Check it out.

About this Plan

Rediscover Leadership

Join us for a seven-part conversation with Alan George, John Ortberg and Nancy Ortberg about leading like Jesus. Leadership has become such an idolized field in our world: in this short series we return to Jesus as our leader on leadership.
