DAY 2 OF 7

Day 2: Surviving Your Send-Off:

Today, we focus on the idea that Joseph went from the pit to the palace. To truly grasp this concept, we must first acknowledge that he hit the bottom of the pit. And there was no water in this cistern – nothing broke his fall. Instead, he suffered in the hole while his brothers feasted.

The Bible doesn’t tell us much about Joseph’s emotional state. But in our humanity, we can understand going from someone’s favorite son to a slave. Demoralizing. The dream fades away. Has your dream faded?

People say Jacob’s sons pitted Joseph. I say they planted him.

The process of a seed sprouting is a beautiful metaphor for the journey that Joseph experienced while trapped in a pit. Like a seed planted in soil, Joseph was thrown into a dark and challenging situation. At first, it may have seemed like he was trapped and forgotten, with no hope for growth or progress. However, just as a seed requires darkness and moisture to germinate, Joseph’s time in the pit provided the opportunity for him to grow and develop in ways that he may not have been able to otherwise.

A seed that is planted must rely on the nutrients in the soil and the conditions around it to grow. As Joseph embraced his circumstances and trusted in God’s plan, he began to grow and develop into the leader that he was destined to become. Eventually, just as a seed sprouts and breaks through the soil to reach for the sunlight, Joseph was able to emerge from the pit and lead.

The things that rise up against us the most are usually the things that we are assigned to change. Our dreams are a piece of how we do that. If you can hold on to your vision, dream, and ideas in the midst of a dark season, then you gain immense power for the future. You become qualified to sit in any seat God assigns. We will see that is exactly what came to pass in Joseph’s life. How are you seeing it come to pass in yours?
