Listen up – you will get old one day (prayerfully)!

The more birthdays you have, the faster they seem to come. The one person responsible for securing your future is you. Godly men do not depend on government programs or a chance to secure their future. 2 Corinthians 9:6 is clear that if we sow generously, we will reap generously. Replace the word sow with invest, and you clearly see how God wants you to act.

There are many people each year that reach retirement age and must keep working because they do not have adequate savings to live on. Some must take the step of moving in with their grown children because the financial burden is too great. Act now and start preparing for the future that will inevitably come. The power of compound interest only works when you add the magic ingredient – TIME!

The great news is that no matter where you are in life, the best time to act is now. Once you clear up your debt, move quickly into investing for the future. Remember, God has you in your situation for a reason, and questioning the past will only lead to bitterness and dismay. Hold your head up high, lean in hard, and prepare to see how God will bless what you sow.

1. At what age do you hope to retire? How are you planning on paying for expenses at that point?
2. Is the idea of making sacrifices now to begin investing scarier that the thought of being a burden for your children in the future because of how you managed finances?
3. What actions will you commit to today to be the leader God intends you to be?
