My Identity in ChristSample

My Identity in Christ

DAY 5 OF 9

A new creation

"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Whoever believes in Christ becomes a new creation. A change takes place in our thoughts and actions. This is “through the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit” (Titus 3:5).

The orientation of our lives switches: no longer we live to ourselves, but to Him who died for our sakes and was raised (2 Corinthians 5:15). A follower of Jesus dedicates his/her body to Christ as a living sacrifice (Rom. 12:1).

What does that mean? To belong to Christ has practical consequences for the way we live. In Romans 12:9-21 we can find multiple instructions for a life that is pleasing to God. Loving your enemy is one of them. Crucifying your flesh with its passions and lusts is another (Gal. 5:24). Christ has now the full say in your life, even about sex.

Whoever belongs to Christ has to learn how to distinguish the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God (Rom. 12:2).The exact meaning for you personally will be a quest. Your new identity will ask in all that you think and do: What do you want from me, Lord Jesus?

How important is the will of Christ for your life at this moment?

About this Plan

My Identity in Christ

Our identity is defined by personal attributes such as character, gender and colour of skin, but also by the groups that we belong to. You may ask yourself: how do I view myself? How do others see me? The most important question however is: How does God see me? Who am I in Christ?
