Remembered for Good: 5 Qualities of a Man

DAY 3 OF 6

Epaenetus

Imagine being the first person in your community to trust Jesus as your Savior. Meet Epaenetus, the courageous first convert from Asia. His story inspires us to embrace bravery as believers, irrespective of our circumstances.

Epaenetus, despite being from Asia, found himself in Rome, the capital of the Roman Empire. Some think that he came to the city to help Prisca and Aquila establish the church there. Moving to the heart of the Roman empire to help a fledgling movement that proclaimed its loyalty to a heavenly King, rather than to Caesar, the Roman emperor, was an act of courage. Yet Epaenetus resolved to walk with God and to serve Him and the church. Likewise, you may need to take a social risk to follow the Lord faithfully. While it may not result in physical harm, taking a stand for your faith often requires stepping out of your comfort zone.

Bravery is not about seeking adrenaline rushes or engaging in thrill-seeking activities. It’s about having a courageous soul that stands firm in character, even when no one else does. As a man or woman of God, your bravery lies in walking with integrity and godliness. These qualities make you attractive to others and empower you to influence the world positively.

We must be willing to say to God wholeheartedly, “Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do it. Wherever you want me to go, I’ll go. Whenever you want to send me, I’m willing.”

By wholeheartedly embracing those statements, you demonstrate true bravery in your faith. Just like the brave individuals from biblical times—Moses confronting Pharaoh, Abraham stepping into the unknown, Daniel facing the lion’s den, and David challenging Goliath—you too can walk courageously with the Lord.

To carry out God’s work, we must exhibit bravery. Bravery means faithfully walking with the Lord, standing firm in character, and trusting Him wherever we go. It is not limited to extraordinary feats or achievements. Epaenetus’ example encourages us to be brave believers, ready to make a difference in our families, workplaces, and communities.

May the Lord empower us to embrace the bravery that stems from our deep trust in Him. Let us pray for the strength to be brave in our faith, to live with unwavering character, and to be willing to follow God’s leading, no matter the cost. Be a brave believer today, and watch how God works through your life.
