Built into the human heart is a desire for identity, joy, and belonging. One of the greatest lies that we believe is that we can find satisfaction for these desires outside of relationship with the LORD. This corrupts even some desires that were once good.
When we have unfulfilled desires, the same underlying question that Eve was asked arises again in our hearts. Can God really be trusted? When we begin to doubt God’s reliability, we assume that we must take matters into our own hands to meet our desires, which leads to envy, anger, and violence.
However, as a new creation, our perspective shifts from one of scarcity to one that sees our Creator as a generous host who has more than enough.
As you read this week and spend time with the LORD, ask yourself:how can I begin to trust the LORD as a good provider, even amongst my unmet desires and dreams?

About this Plan

The Epistle of James has so much to offer us as followers of Jesus today. It was originally written to Jewish Christians spread all over the ancient world. The message is straight to the point, practical, and challenging. Wherever we find ourselves following Jesus, this letter can help us realize how our spiritual and practical life should be one in the same.
