Book By Book 2: 1 Kings To PsalmsSample
Solomon’s building projects continue. This is a testimony to his wealth and security and a fulfillment of God’s promise to David in 2 Samuel 7. Along with Solomon building a house for God, he builds one for himself. It took 13 years to build, so it was more than basic shelter. It is a hint of coming trouble, a sign Solomon’s character is starting to be compromised by wealth.
The theme of God’s faithfulness in the midst of a person’s unfaithfulness continues. How do we get distracted from our relationship with God? We should be glad to know God is faithful despite our failures, but how much better it would be if we could remain faithful.
