Beneath the SurfaceSample
You don't see a lot of ships set out on an ocean journey with just one person on board. Ships are big, complicated pieces of equipment, and it takes a lot of people to make sure it's going the right direction. People who sail by themselves are way more likely to make mistakes and possibly get lost. If they accidentally get hurt, there's no one to help them. If something breaks, there's no one to help them fix it. No matter how good of a sailor you are, unexpected things are going to happen. And when they do, it makes a huge difference to have someone around to help you get things back on track.
In your life, things aren't always going to go as planned. You might lose someone you care about, end up with the wrong crowd, or experience unexpected hurt. These things may feel like set-backs, but you can still get back on course.
God wants you to fulfill your full potential, and God's not going to let a few mistakes or challenges get in the way of that happening. When life doesn't turn out the way we hoped, it makes a big difference to have a team of friends who can support and help you.
In Ephesians, Paul writes that we are all a part of one body. None of us were meant to go through life alone. The better we understand that, the less our mistakes and setbacks will get in the way of us finding God's purpose.

About this Plan
Who do you think you are? You might define your identity around your skills, abilities, and giftings. Those are great ways to start our journey, but they don’t quite reach the center. In the same way, an oceanographer heads into the depths to reveal the ocean's mysteries, we’ll need to prepare to dive deep to discover who we are and who we are becoming.
