A Supernaturally Natural Life

DAY 14 OF 14

NOTHING CAN SEPARATE YOU Every well meaning and fervent Christian goes through these desert experiences where we find ourselves asking this poignant question “Has God abandoned me?” Like most Christians, I’ve had this dreadful fear that every time I messed up, God got up and left. To add to my misery, there were many who would come and “prophesy” and tell me that God is angry with me, His presence is no longer with me, and that now I’m a moving target for the enemy. As a young man with an exuberant zeal to serve God, there was no bigger turn off than this. Many times I would beat myself up, I would try to do good to overcome the bad, I gave extra to the poor, I tithed more - with the expectation that my act would get me right with God. I was so wrong! After the pounding from condemnation, came the revelation of Scripture - the word “Separate” which literally translates as to divide, to depart, to divorce. Wait a minute - let this sink in. No situation, good or bad, will be able to “divorce” you from the love of God. God is in a union and in a covenant with you because of the perfect sacrifice of His Son. Now you can live knowing that God will never depart from you, but HE WILL ALWAYS BE THERE through the good and the bad. Beating yourself up for a mistake you made is futile if you don’t trust in His everlasting love for you, knowing that He will deliver you as long as you are willing to be delivered and to turn away from your sin. Application: Think of a time when a person, situation, or the enemy left you feeling that God’s presence has departed from your life. Now replace that lie with this wonderful truth. Close your eyes and envision His presence by your side. God turned His back on His Son because He was carrying all of our sins, so that now He will never turn his back on you. The price has been paid- He loves you! Quote: “Though we are incomplete, God loves us completely. Though we are imperfect, He loves us perfectly. Though we may feel lost and without compass, God's love encompasses us completely. ... He loves every one of us, even those who are flawed, rejected, awkward, sorrowful, or broken.” ― Dieter F. Uchtdorf SEPARATE in Greek (STRONGS LEXICON G5563): CHORIZO - divide, to depart, to leave a husband or wife (of divorce), to depart, go away, put asunder.
