Real Hope: Food for the SoulSample
Wedding of The Lamb
My wedding was one of the happiest days of my life. I walked down the aisle to make a commitment of love to my husband, and he made a commitment of love to me. Then we celebrated with a wonderful meal shared with family and friends. Our reception was held under a marquee in the courtyard of a beautiful old home. This home had been given to the Conservatorium of Music where I went for my singing lessons. It sits on the rise of a hill with a cloistered garden that opens to green slopes overlooking botanical gardens and the ocean in the distance. The whole day felt like a glimpse of heaven.
Whether our experiences of love on this earth have been positive or negative, there remains a proposal of love and the offer of a feast to celebrate that love if we are willing to say ‘Yes’ to God. In the last book of the Bible, we have a glimpse of heaven. John was given a dream, and he saw a bride with Jesus (the Lamb) enjoying a feast. All those who have said yes to the love proposal of God are the bride, and the feast is the celebration we will have in heaven. It is the love of God that is food for our souls. It is remembering, no matter what happens, that we are offered God’s love that is personal and nourishing. That’s why the psalmist said: ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good’ (Psalm 34:8 NIV).

About this Plan
Much of the Bible describes events around food. At least three times a day, we pause for food. Food has to be grown, bought, prepared and presented. It comes at a cost, but there can be a strong sense of fellowship around each step of that process.
