What Would Courage Do?

DAY 6 OF 10

God gives me courage to pray with power.

When you trust and follow Jesus, you’re a righteous person. Your prayers make things happen. God’s listening to you! Know God’s promises and believe God keeps them. Trust He is powerful enough to do anything that needs to be done.

If you don’t know where to start, here are a few powerful prayers you can pray:

  • God, You promise nothing can ever take me away from Your love. Please show me just how much You love me. (from Romans 8:39)
  • God, You promise that You will never leave me. I feel lonely right now. Please show me that You are still with me. (from Hebrews 13:5)
  • God, I feel sad and hurt right now. Please help me feel Your comfort. (from 2 Corinthians 1:4)
  • God, I can’t make the right choice on my own, but I know I can pray for Your help, and You promise to give it to me. (from Psalm 121:1-2)
  • God, when I don’t know who to trust or where to go, I will talk to You. You have a safe place for me. Show me where it is. (From Nahum 1:7)
  • God, You promise to bless me if I don’t give up. Please give me the courage to keep sharing the love of Jesus with others. (From Galatians 6:9)

After you say a couple of prayers, watch the video and use the Bible verse James 5:16 to play Sticky Note Mix-Up. It will help you remember that your prayers are powerful when you follow Jesus!

Sticky Note Mix-Up

  1. Ask if you can have some sticky notes and a pencil.
  2. Write each word from James 5:16 on sticky notes. Only put one word on each sticky note!
  3. Mix up the sticky notes and put the words in order.

Talk It Over: Look at the list of prayers again. Which prayer do you need to pray the most? What’s a different prayer you need to start praying, too?

About this Plan

What Would Courage Do?

Courage isn’t feeling unafraid. It’s trusting in God’s power to help you live His way even when you are afraid! For Parents: Your child will have a deeper understanding of each day’s reading and questions if you complete this Bible Plan with them. This plan includes several games to play for verse memorization. You may want to supervise use of materials.
