In His Own Image

And on the sixth day, God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness. So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them."

In a world centered on social media and hashtags of #bodygoals, #relationshipgoals, #lifegoals, we tend to try to find ourselves or our identity in all the wrong places, which causes people to be a copy of someone else other than being the person they have been called to be. When we do that, we abandon the destiny and the plan that was intended for us, to live a life that has someone else’s name on it. In Genesis 1:27, it states that God created human beings in his image; meaning God has created us to be like Him. He created us to represent Him and by doing so created a connection or spiritual harmony between man and Himself. We all have been created in a unique and special way. From the color of our skin, personalities, abilities, interests, physical structure, emotions, the number of hairs on our head, to the gifts and talents that are within us. We have been placed on this earth not by accident, but we were created intentionally with a divine purpose.

It becomes very discouraging not knowing who you are and what your purpose in life is. Some may find themselves living a life of purposelessness or feeling like they are useless or meaningless, which brings stress and confusion. But it is important for us to not only have a strong understanding of who we are but also know the person who created us. When we seek God wholeheartedly and grow deeper with him, our hearts, our minds, and outlooks become renewed. We then start to see and understand who our creator is, His characteristics, His abilities, and His purpose and plan for our lives. We start to believe with all our hearts that we have been created for an intended purpose on this earth. We are not mistakes, we are not worthless or insignificant, but we are children of God destined for prosperity. In Jeremiah 29:11, the Lord says, “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Isn’t that great? God already has a plan for you and I. And that plan consists of success, hope and a future.

Sister, you are a masterpiece created in Christ Jesus for good works. You are an original design and there is no one on this earth like you. He knew your name before you were even born and He is calling you to be you, the woman He has planned you to be. Genesis 1:31 says, Then God looked over all He created, and He saw that it was very good! You are good!
