Faith & Love: A One Year Bible Reading Plan - Part 6

DAY 2 OF 22

Being light is who we are. In Jesus’ sermon on the mount, He calls us never to hide or cover the light He has given us. Instead, we are to let it shine with everything we’ve got for the glory of God. He has destined us to be light.

This is very critical to understand. The essence of light is not dependent on a season or on getting everything right. It is about being what God has called us to be, no matter the circumstances. It is about being a light source for the nations where you are situated.

To be a beacon of light is to bring faith, love, and hope. The purpose of a lighthouse, for example, is twofold. It is there to warn sailors of dangerous rocky shorelines and to help guide vessels safely into and out of harbors. You must have faith that the lighthouse is in the right place and will bring you hope for safety when it is built. Our mission is the same. To bring hope and faith and guide people to safety from all walks of life so that they are able to experience love.

Being light is not always easy. There will be times when you feel like just turning it off. Where you would like to give up because it doesn’t appear like you are making a difference. When you feel like that, consider this: Darkness creates confusion and fear. It brings a sense of lostness. The world becomes even more lost if we hide the light. But when we choose to be light, we change the destiny of the world. As a result of that light, salvation becomes a beacon of hope. Be the light you were created to be.

How will you apply your light today?
